Survey: Guidance on Carbon Removals and Land Use

World Resources Institute (WRI), jointly with World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), are planning to develop new Greenhouse Gas Protocol guidance to help companies and organizations account for greenhouse gas emissions and carbon removals from land use, land use change, bioenergy, and related activities in their GHG inventories.

We invite you to take a brief survey to provide your input on the need for and scope of new guidance.

Begin Survey

Many companies and organizations regularly report and set targets for their GHG emissions, but often do not account for carbon removals (which are optional under the Corporate Standard) or emissions and removals from land use, land use change, and forestry (LULUCF).

LULUCF emissions and removals may be associated with operations (such as from land and forests owned or operated by companies) as well as purchases (forest or agriculture products including bioenergy consumed in operations). Carbon removals can take the form of natural climate solutions such as carbon sequestration in forests and soil, or technologies such as direct air capture and carbon, capture, and storage (CCS).

New guidance on these topics would support companies in advancing their GHG reduction strategies, including the design of science-based targets, through more complete and consistent GHG accounting and reporting.

Your feedback will help us determine the demand for and scope of such guidance. Please provide your response by February 8. If you have any questions, please contact David Rich at
