China Program Gains Significant Momentum

Operating under the theme, “Energy Conservation is GHG Emissions Reduction” (jie neng shi jian pai), the WRI-WBCSD-CBCSD China Energy Conservation and GHG Management Program saw significant progress since its launch in June. In September, the program partners held a cement sector working group meeting in Beijing to review feedback from Beijing Cement Company’s implementation of the WBCSD Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) tool.

PRESS RELEASE: New Greenhouse Gas Standards Unveiled in China for Corporate Value Chain and Product Emissions

Developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) and Product Life Cycle Standards will enable companies to save money, reduce risks, and gain competitive advantage. Stakeholder Dialogue on Corporate GHG Accounting in India

The Energy and Resources Institute – Business Council for Sustainable Development (TERI-BCSD), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and the World Resources Institute (WRI) organized a stakeholder dialogue on Corporate GHG Accounting in India on February 2nd, 2011. The event was held on the sidelines of the World CEO Forum 2011 and was the first formal consultation of a project between TERI and WRI. The partnership aims to build capacity on corporate GHG accounting and gain an appreciation of the necessary steps required for developing a national GHG program.

Global Climate Community Releases City-Scale Emissions Accounting Standard for Public Comment

Today C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability have released a draft edition of the Global Protocol for Community-scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions, commencing a one month period of public comment on the landmark effort, which harmonizes the emissions measurement and reporting process for cities of all sizes and geographies.
