Update to Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories in Development

The Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories (Version 1.1) is being developed by World Resources Institute (WRI), C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40), and ICLEI—Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI). This version is an update to the original Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories published in 2014. GPC 1.1 contains updates as per the 2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and other edits to clarify ambiguities and provide further methodological guidance. The document also discusses how the Common Reporting Framework, the emissions accounting framework being used by the Global Covenant of Mayors, is aligned with the GPC.

The updated draft for Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories (Version 1.1) will shortly undergo review. Please reach out to Varsha Suresh varsha.suresh@wri.org for a copy of the draft, if you would like to participate in the review process. We welcome your feedback on the updated draft.
