GHG Protocol to Appoint Executive Director in Support of Global Efforts to Harmonize GHG Accounting

The role will support continued collaboration as harmonization efforts advance under the COP30 Action Agenda.

The GHG Protocol is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization into its next era, one defined by institutional growth and rapidly expanding market demands. This new Executive Director position will oversee the GHG Protocol’s existing seasoned leadership team, drive the organization to deliver on its mission at the scale and pace the market needs, and fulfill its post Belém COP mandate on global carbon accounting harmonization.

GHGP’s founding partners — the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) — have long worked to steward and strengthen the world’s most widely used greenhouse gas accounting standards. The Executive Director role will help support this ongoing work as adoption continues to expand globally.

The new Executive Director will work closely with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to advance the harmonization of GHG accounting worldwide under the COP Action Agenda.

Through continued collaboration with ISO, GHGP seeks to reduce fragmentation, improve comparability and strengthen trust in greenhouse gas disclosures globally — supporting greater clarity and consistency in carbon accounting across markets.
