GHG Protocol Pulse: June Update

Watch the Recording: Land Sector and Removals Webinar with CDP

The recording of our recent joint webinar with CDP on the new Land Sector and Removals (LSR) Standard is now available. This session explored how companies disclosing through CDP can begin aligning with the LSR Standard in 2026. Key highlights include:

  • Clarification of which companies the LSR Standard applies to,
  • Instructions for how companies can report to CDP in alignment with the LSR Standard,
  • Examples of emissions and removals covered by the LSR Standard.

Deadline Reminder: Actions and Markets Instrument Request for Information Closes June 15

GHG Protocol extended the deadline for responses to the Actions and Markets Instrument (AMI) Request for Information (RFI) to June 15 at 11:59pm Pacific Time. This extension is intended to allow stakeholders additional time to review the consultation materials, coordinate internal input where appropriate, and provide informed feedback on the matters raised through the AMI process. All feedback must be submitted via the survey form to be considered.

➡️ Read the Actions and Market Instruments White Paper (please note this is not a draft standard).

➡️Submit your feedback via the Request for Information survey form.

➡️Questions about the process? Read the RFI Explanatory Memo.

➡️For additional context on why this matters, read our overview blog.

GHG Protocol Announces New Members of ISO Project Standard Working Group

GHG Protocol appointed three experts to ISO’s TC207/SC7 Working Group five, which is in the process of developing a joint Project Standard under the ISO-GHG Protocol partnership. The new Project Standard will provide guidance for quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emission reductions or removals from specific projects. This is directly related to GHG Protocol’s Actions and Market Instruments workstream, which is working on accounting guidance for emissions reductions that go beyond what is captured in a company’s main GHG inventory.

Update on the Land Sector and Removals Stakeholder Survey

GHG Protocol recently surveyed companies with land-sector emissions (or those accounting for CO₂ removals), along with data providers and other stakeholders, on their capacity-building, decision-making, and data/MRV needs. We received over 300 responses to the survey and thank all participants for sharing their feedback. GHG Protocol will use the results of the survey to help determine what additional resources to develop to supplement the Land Sector and Removals Standard and forthcoming Guidance. We plan to share a summary of the survey results in Q3 2026.

Welcoming CEO Tim Mohin

In April, GHG Protocol announced Tim Mohin’s appointment as its first ever CEO. We’re delighted that Tim is now serving in his role as a part of the GHG Protocol Secretariat. Tim’s onboarding marks a significant step in the organization’s evolution, and we look forward to continuing to advance GHG Protocol’s mission and vision under his leadership.
