WASHINGTON DC (February 28, 2025) – GHG Protocol is pleased to announce five additional members of its Independent Standards Board (ISB).
ISB Chair Alexander Bassen and the inaugural members of the ISB are joined by: Anthony Cheung, Pieter Gagnon, Christina Hood, Stuart Jefford and Viola Lutz.
Biographies for the new ISB members can be found on GHG Protocol’s governance webpage. All members of the ISB join in their personal capacity.
The establishment of the ISB was first announced in November 2023 as part of GHG Protocol’s strategy to refine its governance model to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and changing GHG accounting and reporting landscape. The ISB has the mandate to review and approve GHG Protocol standards, guidance and other normative documentation.
As voluntary and regulatory programs continue to integrate GHG Protocol’s standards and guidance, the Independent Standards Board, under the guidance of the Steering Committee (SC), will play a critical role in the timely delivery of updates to GHG Protocol’s corporate suite of standards. With the constitution of the SC, ISB and Technical Working Groups (TWGs), GHG Protocol has taken critical steps toward ensuring transparency and accountability to its stakeholders. Materials from the governance bodies, including materials from TWG meetings, can be accessed through the Standards Development and Governance Repository.
Alexander Bassen, Chair of the GHG Protocol Independent Standards Board, said, “The latest additions to the Independent Standards Board will add additional expertise and perspectives to the already robust and experienced team. I am enthusiastic to work with all of the members to support the delivery of the mission and vision of the GHG Protocol.”
