BEA Webinar Series for Cities: Using Data to Measure Building Efficiency Policy Impacts

This webinar will cover how to calculate the potential emissions impacts from city activities on building efficiency using quality data and standardized methodologies. The webinar will include a step-by-step instruction of how to calculate the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in cities with time for discussion and city-specific examples.

Calculations will have applications to the built environment and the webinar will cover implications for health and economic impacts. Strategies for sourcing data and using indicators to assess data quality will be discussed.

Speakers:

Carley Chavara: Research Analyst, Global Climate Program, WRI

Carley is a Research Analyst with the Global Climate Program. She supports cities in tracking and reducing greenhouse gas emissions through publication development, e-learning, and application of the GHG Protocol for Cities (GPC). Carley also works with the Building Efficiency Accelerator to conduct emissions assessments of policies and projects and draft publications.

Alex Kovac: Research Analyst, Global Climate Program, WRI

Alex is a Research Analyst with the Global Climate Program and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. He supports drafting and coordination for WRI’s Global Protocol for Community-scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GPC), and contributes to the development of standards, methodology, and guidance for preparing accurate and actionable city-level greenhouse gas inventories.
