Technical Working Groups: Status Update  

Following an open call for applications to join the Technical Working Groups (TWGs) for the corporate suite of standards updates, GHG Protocol received an overwhelming number of applications from an exceptionally high caliber and wide range of candidates. Significant progress on the composition of the TWGs has been made and the process is now in its final validation stages with individual applicants. A public announcement of the full slate of Technical Working Group, Independent Standards Board and Steering Committee members, along with the applicable Terms of Reference for each body, will be made in September. All applicants not selected for Technical Working Group membership are invited to provide feedback on the draft standards via our public consultation process in 2025. If you have not yet registered your interest in participating via the public consultation process, please kindly do so via this form. GHG Protocol will also keep all TWG applications on file if a need to appoint additional TWG members is identified during the standards update process. Please note that GHG Protocol continues to accept new applications on a rolling basis.

Market-based Accounting Approaches Survey Final Summary Report

In April 2024, GHG Protocol released a draft version of the Market-based Accounting Approaches Survey Summary Report and held a review period to invite comments from individuals/organizations who completed the survey. The GHG Protocol Secretariat reviewed all comments submitted during the review period and is now releasing the Market-based Accounting Approaches Survey Final Summary Report. The Final Summary Report builds on the “Topline Findings from Market-based Accounting Approaches Survey” webinar by providing a more comprehensive and detailed summary of responses. Now Available: Corporate Standard Frequently Asked Questions

GHG Protocol released a new resource for stakeholders seeking to implement GHG Protocol’s Corporate Standard. The new Corporate Standard Frequently Asked Questions resource addresses 19 common questions about accounting for corporate GHG emissions. If you have questions that are not answered by the Corporate Standard FAQ you can reach GHG Protocol’s technical support team via this form. All FAQ resources can be found here.  

Advancing Harmonization through the ISSB: Event Recording

At London Climate Week, World Business Council for Sustainable Development CEO Peter Bakker represented GHG Protocol at an event alongside leaders from Deloitte, Independent Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), CDP and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). This followed GHG Protocol’s announcement that GHG Protocol and the IFRS Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to guide future work and collaboration between GHG Protocol and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
