Amir Safaei

Amir is the project lead in coordinating technical and institutional collaboration between GHG Protocol and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). He also serves as the co-convener of the joint working Group on the product-level GHG accounting standard. In this role, he works closely with ISO and GHG Protocol leadership to guide the multi-stakeholder development process, ensure alignment with existing standards portfolios, and support transparent, consensus‑based decision-making in the development of a globally harmonized product carbon footprint standard. Amir served as part of the team developing the Land Sector and Removals Standard and the accompanying Guidance.

Prior to joining GHG Protocol and World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Amir led the Sustainable Recycle Industries Program component A, where he coordinated an international coalition to collect and provide several regions (Asia, Latin America, Africa, Europe) with the capacity and data pools required for environmental reporting including GHG reporting at national and corporate levels.

Amir holds an MBA from the university of Glasgow and Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy systems from the university of Coimbra in Portugal and Massachusetts institute of Technology in USA.
