Secondment Opportunities

Greenhouse Gas Protocol Standards Workstream

Greenhouse Gas Protocol is the world’s leading authority and international standard setter on corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounting. Building on a 20-year partnership between the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), GHG Protocol works with governments, industry associations, NGOs, businesses, and other organizations.  Around 90% of companies reporting to CDP use GHG Protocol standards for corporate carbon footprint accounting. GHG Protocol also provides standards, tools, and online training to help countries and cities track progress toward their climate goals.

GHG Protocol is currently undertaking a coordinated process to update its corporate suite of standards across four workstreams (Corporate Standard, Scope 2 Guidance, Scope 3 Standard and Guidance, and Actions and Market Instruments (AMI). This is a unique secondment opportunity to support the GHG Protocol secretariat on the standards update process. The secondees will have the opportunity to immerse into GHG Accounting, expand their knowledge and work together with a highly skilled and motivated team that is driven by the mission to develop the most credible, accessible, and widely used greenhouse gas accounting and reporting standards and to proactively facilitate their global adoption and implementation.

Arrangement

Secondees will operate as members of the GHG Protocol team, housed within the World Resources Institute or the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCD), and will work closely with the GHG Protocol Secretariat. All secondments will be for a minimum of six months, during which time the secondee will work exclusively for the GHG Protocol, without duties or responsibilities to their home organization. Secondees are to be fully funded by their home organization, except for any project-specific costs incurred (i.e. project travel, etc), and will be subject to WRI’s or WBCSD’s Secondment Agreement terms and conditions.
