Land Sector and Removals Guidance
The Land Sector and Removals (LSR) Guidance, a companion resource to the Land Sector and Removals Standard, provides companies practical detail on how to account for and report GHG emissions and CO₂ removals from agricultural land use and emerging CO₂ removal technologies. To facilitate interoperability and ease of use, both the Standard and Guidance are organized into the same 20 chapters. To learn more, read the LSR Guidance Press Release and FAQ resource.
About the Land Sector and Removals Guidance
Alongside the Land Sector and Removals Standard v1.1, the LSR Guidance explains how companies account for and report the following activities in their greenhouse gas inventories:
- Land management and land use change
- CO₂ removals with storage in land and geologic carbon pools
- Emissions from biogenic products and products derived from technological CO₂ removals across the value chain
The LSR Guidance supports corporate implementation of the LSR Standard – which outlines the accounting and reporting requirements, recommendations and options – through worked examples, equations and calculation guidance. It features 10 corporate case studies, from companies including Mars, PepsiCo, and General Mills, to showcase practical application across topics.
The guidance for each chapter of the LSR Standard can be downloaded separately. Each chapter file also includes the relevant requirements, recommendations and options from the LSR Standard.
