Inaugural Independent Standards Board Chair Selected
Greenhouse Gas Protocol is pleased to announce that Dr. Alexander Bassen will serve as the inaugural Chair of its Independent Standards Board (ISB), the new governance body tasked with overseeing standards development, including the update of GHG Protocol’s flagship suite of standards for business (the Corporate Standard, Scope 2 Guidance, and Scope 3 Standard). Dr. Bassen, a globally recognized academic and expert on corporate governance and sustainability reporting, is professor of Capital Markets and Management of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg. Governance Update
Applications for GHG Protocol's governance closed on Wednesday, January 31. Many thanks to those who took time to submit an expression of interest. We received over 1,500 applications across the Steering Committee, Independent Standards Board and Technical Working Groups. More information about the role of each group can be found here. GHG Protocol is now working to conduct an expeditious review of the applications and will follow up with additional updates as soon as possible.

New Blog Post: 2023 in Numbers
2023 was a historic year for Greenhouse Gas Protocol and we are excited to share some of our major milestones from the last year. From launching two new overarching governance bodies, to administering four surveys, to adding 14 new staff members to our team, we have made significant progress towards updating our suite of corporate standards, expanded the ways stakeholders can be involved in our update process, and increased our team's capacity.
