2024 Reflections and Looking Ahead from Steering Committee Chair and Vice Chair 

To ring in the New Year, GHG Protocol’s Steering Committee Chair, Geraldine Matchett, and Vice Chair, Ovais Sarmad, penned an update to GHG Protocol stakeholders, highlighting key accomplishments from the past year and what is new moving forward. New Video: How Do I Calculate Emissions?

GHG Protocol at European Statistical Forum 

GHG Protocol's Maia Kutner, GHG Protocol Director (WBCSD), participated in the European Statistical Forum in Brussels. Maia joined a panel discussion on GHG emissions data, addressing an audience of statisticians and central bank professionals from across Europe. The panel explored the suitability of existing corporate climate data to meet the data needs of central banks and statisticians. Additionally, they discussed the potential impacts that the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) could have on the availability and quality of climate data. Watch the Recording: Transforming the Food and Agriculture Sector through Value Chain Interventions 

GHG Protocol’s Matt Ramlow provided the keynote presentation for the Value Change Initiative’s webinar launch of their new publication: Accounting and reporting Scope 3 Interventions in the Food and Agriculture Sector. GHG Protocol was key technical partner in the development of the publication, and Matt, along with GHG Protocol’s Alejandra Bosch, served as members of VCI’s Food and Agriculture Working Group. Matt and Alejandra were tasked with supporting the development of technical content in the publication and how it aligns with GHG Protocol standard and guidance. The webinar showcases key insights on developing best practices for scaling value chain actions in the sector. Watch the recording here 

New Report: Addressing Agricultural Scope 3 Emissions 

3Keel recently published a new report focusing on strategies for organizations to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural supply chains. GHG Protocol’s Matt Ramlow contributed feedback on the report through the Advisory Group to support alignment with GHG Protocol standards and guidance. The report was funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), to support companies in improving agricultural practices in their supply chains which plays a key role in the UK's Net Zero strategy.
