Title
WASHINGTON DC (September 26, 2024) – Following the launch of the inaugural Steering Committee and Independent Standards Board, GHG Protocol is pleased to announce the members of the four Technical Working Groups that will support the process to revise and update the suite of corporate standards.
The Technical Working Groups will play a core role in developing the technical content for the GHG Protocol standards and guidance. More information about their role and responsibilities can be found in the Terms of Reference.
Each of the four Technical Working Groups are focused on a specific topic: Corporate Standard, Scope 2, Scope 3 and Actions & Market Instruments (previously referred to as Market-Based Accounting Approaches).
The list of members of all four groups is available on the GHG Protocol governance webpage. Updates and information from Technical Working Groups meetings will be made publicly available through the governance document repository.
GHG Protocol thanks the 1,300+ individuals who applied to become a member of a Technical Working Group following the open call for participants issued by GHG Protocol in late 2023. In selecting Technical Working Group members, the Independent Standards Board and Secretariat sought to ensure depth of subject matter expertise and diverse representation across geography, organization type, sector and gender identity.
GHG Protocol continues to accept Technical Working Group (TWG) applications on a rolling basis to keep on file and fill potential future gaps in composition. Please complete this form if you are interested.
Update: As of November 22, 2024, GHG Protocol is not accepting rolling TWG applications at this time. |
“I’m incredibly impressed at the wealth of expertise across all four Technical Working Groups,” said Independent Standards Board Chair Alexander Bassen. “I, and the rest of the Independent Standards Board, are excited to see what proposals will be brought to us. With such a high caliber of members, I’m confident that the materials the Technical Working Groups crafts will be innovative and fit for purpose in this new era of GHG accounting.”
“Technical Working Groups are foundational to the standards update process,” said GHG Protocol Director Pankaj Bhatia. “The Secretariat is grateful for all those who have volunteered their time to participate in this historic update process – we would not be able to undertake this sweeping effort without their support. We look forward to collaborating with the TWGs on the development of the next generation of GHG Protocol’s suite of corporate standards.”
